In our fast-paced world, no two projects are alike, especially in the Envelope. Each year brings new iterations, embracing ideals of sustainability, reliability, safety, expressiveness, and value engineering.
Since 1989, VS-A has delivered unique envelope design solutions across Europe. Our founding principle has recently enabled expansion into the Asia Pacific region, with studios established in Hong Kong, Seoul, and Shenzhen since 2011. Our strong ties with local design, development, and manufacturing teams allow us to adapt to diverse cultural and climatic environments.
While our core strength lies in bespoke façade engineering, we also have R&D teams focused on applying our design creativity to other fields. Their work includes developing products, geometric patterns, BIM, AI, IoT, manufacturing, and rapid prototyping.
We embrace innovation as needed by each project, maintaining a fundamentally reasonable, practical, and cost-effective approach.

Robert-Jan van Santen
Founder, Architect, Technical Director, Co-Founder UBLO
Robert-Jan van Santen graduated in Architecture from UPA3 Versailles (FR). He worked for 4 years in “Atelier de Paris” with Renzo PIANO. From 1989 onward, he played a significant role in setting establishing the VS-A satellites in the Asia Pacific region. He was honored with the Silver Medal from the French Académie d'Architecture for Research and Technique in 2008. The design outputs are regularly patented. The Korean start-up company, UBLO was jointly set up with Naree KIM. + Coat-ing. This latest enterprise is responsible for developing a personalized ventilation window. Robert -Jan is a regular speaker at international conferences and participates in numerous jury panels worldwide.

Suzy Huang
Co-Founder VS-A. HK/SZ, CEO
With 7 years experience in the glass facade industry, Suzy brings her knowledge to the VS-A Group as the co-founder of VS-A. HK in 2011. She hopes Robert-Jan’s exquisite design concepts and ideas can be promoted in Asia and completed to be iconic. After more than a decade of practice in China, she developed networks with all collaborated parties and made VS-A a unique brand in facade architecture and engineering.
In 2023, she also took over South Korean Office, integrated 3 Asian offices to better organize VS-A design service to more Asian countries and zones.

Miao Ze
Co-Founder VS-A. SZ, Operational Director, Engineer
Miao Ze has vast experience in high-rise building structural design, having actively participated in a diverse range of projects across different scales and project stages. With a strong design philosophy and exceptional coordination abilities, his design expertise has been fully harnessed since joining VS-A in 2017.
In his role as a leader at the VS-A Shenzhen office, he has successfully applied his skills to practice in various project typologies, including cultural, hotel, commercial, mixed-use, hospital, and educational facilities.
